Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) started the urgent loan program for the national and international students suffering from economic difficulties caused by the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake and tsunami.
1. Applicable students
Full-time students including both Japanese and foreign students studying in Japanese universities, the junioir colleges, or the institutes of colleges of technology(higher than the 4th grade) who are under one of the following circumstances:
- One's accommodation is damaged directly by the earthquakes and ensuing tsunami, etc.
- Having difficulty such as the supporting family not beig able to afford to financially support one's study for a while.
- Any other difficult condition, which the rector of one's university or college approves the application.
2. Condition of the loan
Up to 100,000 yen per person
The approval of the rector of the university is needed. A guarantor is not required for this loan.
3. Condition of the repayment
After one year of indulgence, repayment must be made in istallments within one year period in principle.
4. Applications
Applications are accepted and the loan payment is made at one's university student bureau.
